Global electric truck sales surpassed 400,000 units in 2025, doubled year over year, and reached 9% of total truck sales. In the United States, more than 4,500 fleet operators had deployed at least one zero-emission vehicle by December 2024, while medium-duty deployments in the first half of 2025 exceeded the full-year 2024 total by 61%. Fleet operators require scheduled inspections and short diagnostic turnaround times because HVAC and battery-thermal faults can remove revenue-producing assets from operation. Commercial EVs will therefore be the fastest-growing vehicle category, at a 23.28% CAGR through 2035. Software diagnostics and HVAC calibration form a distinct service category as EV climate systems become more tightly coupled with battery-management systems. The segment generated USD 857.9 million in 2025 and will reach USD 4,899.6 million by 2035, growing at an 18.17% CAGR. Tesla’s model combines remote diagnostics, over-the-air updates, mobile service, and OEM-controlled tooling. Independent providers face higher tooling and licensing requirements as a result. The more consequential shift is that repair work increasingly includes a software-restoration step, extending service revenue beyond physical component replacement. Technician capacity has not expanded at the same pace as the addressable EV fleet. EV-specific HVAC training remains limited across Latin America, MEA, and much of South and Southeast Asia. India’s refrigerant transition adds demand for new service competencies within a large and varied aftermarket. Workforce constraints lower service-network density and limit the share of events that organized providers can capture.
